NIWOT HIGH SCHOOL'S ANNUAL CFS BENEFIT PLAY:

Niwot High School’s Swashbucklers Club will present Shakespeare’s tragedy 'King Lear' at 7:00 p.m. on February 24 and 25, and 2:00 p.m. on February 26 at the Xilinx Retreat Center, 3100 Logic Drive in Longmont. King Lear is considered one of the world’s greatest works of literature and tells the story of a foolish ruler who falls prey to children whom he believes to be loving, while disowning the only daughter who truly cares for him. Full of towering poetry, raw emotion, brutal battles, and even some quirky comedy, the play has shocked and awed audiences for over 400 years.  Tickets are $5 at the door, with extra donations encouraged. This production is the 10th annual Food Fight, a benefit for Community Food Share which generally raises enough support to provide 5,000 meals for the needy in Boulder County. All proceeds go to CFS.
WARNING: King Lear is a mature play about the pre-Christian Dark Ages, full of graphic violence and the occasional bawdy reference. Small children are not encouraged.
