Quotes from clients:

Evicted

"We really depend on (this program) to make ends meet. Without it my family would go hungry. We get a good amount of HEALTHY foods. Plus everyone who works here is friendly and nonjudgemental. My boyfriend has been out of work (except temporary jobs) for 3 years. Our home was foreclosed & we were evicted & have to be homeless for 6 months with a baby and a 12 year-old."

Laid off

" The food I receive from the food bank gets me and my family through the month because I make $3 more a month not to receive any other benefits. The best food is given through CFS. I thank God every night for the food I receive. The recession has kept me from finding a full time job over the last year."

"Without the (Feeding Families program) we would miss meals. Without it we couldn't make ends meet. I can hardly pay the bills let alone buy food."

"I am so grateful for the food I receive. It gives me peace of mind that I can get a gallon of milk and much more if I am low on $. It has been hard finding work, and being able to come here helps so much more that I can write! Thank you so much!"

"I am disabled and do not get disability. I also get only a small amount of food assistance and have 3 teenagers in high school. They would not eat at times without the help from this program. We are very blessed to have this help!"

"The food is great. The staff and volunteers are also very hard working caring individuals. Sometimes I run out of food & I have children. I am very thankful for everything in this program!"

"Community Food Share has made it possible for a disposessed parent to feed her family. Gratitude is an understatement."

"My family has recently been going through hardship. So we have been on a tight budget. The food will help me to save for the important things that only money can pay for. I have to thank the Community Food Share for all they have done for us."

"We like to come to the CFS food bank for their good selection of food. They are always good, considerate, nice and never look down on you for having to reach out for a little help now & then in life. Thx "

"I want to say thank you for all the help that you have given me and my family, each week. Know that thanks to you our sons and daughters are not wanting for food. God bless you. Your help is appreciated, and you make us very happy. Thank you."

"If it were not for your program, I would not [have money left after buying food to] be able to acquire personal needs items and a few things to help run a small house that I would otherwise have to do without. I am a disabled adult and I know more than most about what living on a fixed income means - just to survive. Thank You so much."

"I cannot tell you in this short email how much it helped the other day to be able to come in and pick up food for my family. My children now are eating cereal and warm breakfast. We needed that boost so desperately. My husband is back at work and we are slowly picking back up to speed. It's amazing how quickly you can get behind when you have an unexpected crisis like we did with the loss of our child. I hope to be able to repay the kindness you have shown to me by volunteering or bringing in food. Thank you again!!!"

"Being a single parent is a job for more than two people. Living in Boulder, where sometimes I can find work for $10 or less per hour, part time with no benefits has led me to be very resourceful. Last year, when I could not find work and was unable to even collect unemployment, I feared for my family. What would we eat? Where could I find food for us? I heard about Community Food Share at my son’s junior high school. His counselor found out the only food he had to eat was on the School Free Lunch program. I knew that I could get by on a little food for myself, but I worry about the children because “we don’t have any” is not an option. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to receive food where there is plenty and still keep my dignity when I have hard times. The people are so friendly and helpful. The volunteers there seem to really enjoy helping the less fortunate to survive and love what they contribute."

“Thank you! Having fresh fruit and produce and all the other healthy foods blesses me so much.  You kindled my heart, you feed by soul and body.”

"We are a family of four. My husband is disabled and we live on his social security disability and Veterans pension supplement. This level of income has never been enough money to live on, and it is barely surviable as the cost of living ever increases. Each month we pay rent and bills and then figure out how to eat as the month goes on.
I am a student at CU, studying psychology and I will be graduating in May with plans of continuing on to graduate school. I am seeking this education with the intention of being able to gain the skills neccesary launch a career that will elevate our family out of poverty. This is also our daughter's senior year in high school. Her accomplishments as a young woman are formidable, considering our finacial situation, as are her future plans beyond highschool. Our son is starting second grade, and he is also advanced scholastically.
On and off throughout the years we have received food help from various public aid resources, but the community food share has added to our cuppards and refrigerator in the healthiest way. The food we have to choose from at CFS is healthy and much of the time organic, as well as providing a variety fresh produce from local farms. (My past experience is that often food from the other  aid sources has been the "reject" products from grocers or individual pantrys, the stuff that is not good to begin with and definitly does not improve with age!)
Eating healthy and right is important to us and we have suffered at having to compromise with substandard food. To our pleasant surprise, CFS has been very dilligent in accepting food donations that we are able to bring food home to the kids as if we had gone shopping ourselves.
Good nutrition is vitally important for maintaining good physical and mental health and CFS greatly aids us in our endeavor to support our children so they can continue to exel, as well as relieving some of the pressure, as a parent and college student, to responsibly feed my family.
Thanks to all who are a part of this endeavor to bridge the gaps in our society by providing quality aid to improve the quality of life for our families!"

“Muchas gracias por  la comida que nos brindan de mucha ayuda para nuestras familias.”

“I wish that I could send you more [after a small donation], but I live off a total income of $731 monthly and am a recipient of your wonderful, 2 times a month Elder Share program, plus food stamps – thank you so much.”

"Thank you Food Share.  Without the help it would be difficult sometimes to feed my five children.  We dearly appreciate it."
