Hunger Research

CFS recently participated in a Hunger Study, conducted by our national affiliate, Feeding America. This survey was intended to measure the extent of food insecurity in localities all across the United States, and to assess the level of food assistance available to those in need.

Key Findings within CFS's service area (Boulder & Broomfield Counties):

  • The food provided by Community Food Share reaches an estimated 33,000 different people annually, either through our member agencies or our direct distribution programs.
  • 39% of the people served by Community Food Share are children.
  • 51% of households include at least one employed adult.
  • 44% of clients served by CFS report having to choose between paying for food and paying for utilities or heat.
