Community Food Share's Member Agencies

CFS member agencies are local 501c3 human service charities, churches and schools that receive free food from us weekly, including free delivery. These agencies include basic needs programs, soup kitchens, emergency assistance programs, senior programs, shelters, child care centers and agencies serving disabled citizens, the mentally ill, low-income working poor and at-risk youth.

Unlike most other food banks around the country, we do not charge our agencies a fee to receive food from us. While this increases the amount of money that we need to raise annually, we feel it is another way we can support our partner agencies. By providing free food to our Partner Agencies, they can focus their money and resources on their areas of expertise, strengthening the community safety net.

Thanks to our network of Partner Agencies, we are able to touch the lives of over 30,000 people annually.

We currently serve over 50 agencies in Boulder & Broomfield counties, including:

  • Emergency Family Assistance Association
  • Sister Carmen Community Center
  • Boulder Shelter for the Homeless
  • The Church of St. John the Baptist
  • O.U.R. Center
  • Good News Center
  • St. Thomas Food Bank
  • Broomfield FISH
  • Carriage House/Community Table
  • Boulder County Mental Health Center
  • The Sunday Soup and Lamb's Lunch programs

Member Agency Profile

The Round Pantry at Westview Church is one of the newest CFS partner agencies.  Located in northwest Longmont, the Round Pantry began in the spring of 2010 serving about 7 or 8 families.  By November, the Pantry was serving nearly 170 families. The Round Pantry distributes food (milk, cheese, eggs, meat, prepared meals, canned fruits and vegetables, rice, beans, baked goods, fresh produce, fruit and more) in a “grocery store” setting. The opportunity to shop is clearly the most often complimented aspect of the pantry. Round Pantry guest Trina noted, “I like the way we can shop.  I can choose what my family can eat and know I won’t be wasting any food like I would if I was given a generic box of food.” Guests are eager to receive the fresh fruit and produce and are learning new ways of preparing them.

The Round Pantry organizers developed a “meal plan” to guide families in shopping. A simple color code system based on family size assists guests in knowing how much they can select from each of the nutritional categories.  Also, some products are sorted into a ‘special needs’ section (e.g. sugar-free, gluten free, dairy-free.)

Setting up and operating the Round Pantry requires an energetic crew of volunteers. As volunteer Kathy said, “This is hard work but I always leave feeling so uplifted and energized by our grateful guests.”

 Member agency letter to CFS:

"Our Food Bank wishes to extend a hearty thanks to you, your staff and all of your generous donors who are instrumental in providing the enormous amount of food to us every week. After working with your organization for the past 4 years, we are still continually amazed at the consistent nutritional selection and quantity of food your agency provides. Just from our agency alone, we are serving over 1100 individuals in the Longmont area with boxes of food totaling close to 5 TONS every week. And it should be noted that it is delivered to us free of charge"

"We are equally as satisfied with the professionalism of your staff and the courteous assistance they provide. Your recent recommendation of training agency staff on food safety procedures and the ease of accessibility to this training is just another way you provide valuable training tools to the agencies and general food safety to the clients."

"Your organization is making a difference in our community and we are honored and proud to be a part."
